Muddy Angels
On rolling hills, we strode
I made your soul familiar
and knew you as a walking altar
so stately you ascend in speech
enlightened in an encore of death & disappointment
attaining holy detachment
feeding on abstinence,
as hope is gluttonous
for earth angels are fructified in muddy waters
I watch your glorious wings lie dormant under dirt
The grieved are many
but none so brown and blue as you
And how like the rose weeps richly deep, nourishing drops of oil as it’s crushed,
In ex hypothesi, gruesome reality hits to disenthrall thy soul
I’m no longer begging beauty not to go
No longer patient till paradise
I invite you to tarnish
in madness
in loneliness
Half mud, half heaven
Feet go so lightly now, floating through,
but never away from earthly troubles

Hope is gluttonous, wow
